CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

Yes the brakes got bad. I was taking my kids to school and the car didn't stop and I hit the tire on the side of a sidewalk. It has happened twice. My rims are just bent from both sides of the car. I need to get new tires because they are all bent.

On Saturday 4-16-2016 the brake booster went out on my car. I had to wait until Monday to call anyone about this. Monday I call, everyone is being helpful until it comes to a rental car. I need a rental car until my car is fixed. I'm a single mom with no help from anyone. I have an elderly Mom that I'm helping take care of also. Chrysler is saying they will reimburse me for a car. Although I do not have extra funds to pay up front for a car. I live pay check to pay check. I need a car asap. I'm having to find someone here and there to get me to and from work and running out of options. This is crazy that you do not furnish a car for someone that has a recall car that has already broken down and can drive their car. I'm making payments on this car, paying insurance etc. I need Chrysler to get me a car asap!!!!!!!

I have also gotten a recall on the brakes on my dart, and the recall company assured me "it shouldn't be anything to worry about" even though they don't have the parts or any information on fixing the problem. they just state that they're working hard to fix the problem. I have read on other sites over 100,000 cases have been filed. many cases involved crashing because they could not stop and some even stated they lost control of the steering as well when the brakes failed. Seems like a pretty big safety issue, and my local dealership does not care to talk at all about it and just refers me to the recall number. I've read cases where this issue happens out of nowhere from 5,000 miles to 50,000miles. so basically drive at your own risk, because the manufacturer does not care about your safety! I do not want this vehicle any more after knowing this, and reading several cases, especially after reading that the manufacturer is not at all responsible for paying any damages or injuries caused from any accidents due to this malfunction!! I have not had any problems with my car since I bought it brand new, but that has been what every other testimony has stated... until randomly they go to stop one time and the brakes don't work. I care about my safety and the people I transport, not to mention every other driver on the road. I drive in rush hour traffic every day, take yearly trips to Colorado through the mountains, and drive during snow storms to push snow for work in the winter... none of which I would like to lose my brakes while doing. Simply is not safe

I get a recall notice from Dodge today advising me of a potential safety problem with my brakes. I NEED TO HAVE WORKING BRAKES! In the notice it advises that Dodge does not have the parts to fix the problem and that they will let me know when they get the parts. WHAT AM I TO DO IN THE MEAN TIME? I have grandchildren I transport. If I am in a crash because of failed brakes...............Dodge this will be on you.
