CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.
For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.
For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart SXT. Out of the blue on a hot summer day this year my rear view camera quit working. What I get on the screen when it does this is a grayish black screen with flickering in it and the words Check Entire Surroundings at the top. It really ticked me off because part of the reason I bought this car was the large screen and rear view camera. So I took it in to my Dodge dealership and the weather was cooler that day. Low and behold, the rear view camera worked perfectly. Then after they did some other servicing and I took it home, it was a hot day and again the camera stopped working.
This is so frustrating! I called my Dodge dealership back and they quoted me a price of over $450.00 to replace the camera. This is insane because that is a band aid fix. The problem isn't the camera but what is happening to it on hot days. Dodge needs to recall this vehicle part and find a real fix for it. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I have back problems and really rely on the rear view camera.
