CarComplaints.com Notes: The first year of the new Dodge Dart had a rough start, with owners reporting a disproportionate number of engine and transmission problems.

For transmission, the main complaints are transmission failure & rough shifting. So far, average mileage for transmission failure is 25,000 miles. Not good.

For engine problems, it usually starts with the engine light coming on for any number of reasons: bad sensors, ignition coil replacement, bad wiring, faulty gas cap ... dealers are replacing various components with varying degrees of success, or telling owners they can't duplicate the issue.

Dart Rallye 1.4L Turbo

Took the car into the shop the next day after this occurred and it wouldn't pop up any error codes and we couldn't get it to do it again once it shut off. Its very annoying and I don't want it to be a bigger problem such as a new wiring harness. I can't keep fixing all of these small problems when I get one finished and 10 more start up!

I've had problems with my stereo 6 months into my purchase and had it serviced three times to fix the uconnect system. The dealer was never able to fix it and blamed on my Apple products. I gave up. Two days ago the whole center console went black an the heater is tuck on the highest setting and I have no way to turn it off. I'll take it to my dealer tomorrow and wait for my out of warranty bill. Not happy

Dart Rally 1.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 17,500 miles

Two trips to the dealership. First they replaced the screen as it was going blank at will. Then they replaced radio. Working now, but for how long? I loved this car. I am now beginning to dislike it very much.

Dart 1.4L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 24,380 miles

The center screen and all the controls below it just stopped working. This meant that the seat heater and steering wheel heated were not able to be turned off. The heater controls wouldn't work nor the radio. Took it to the dealership and they reset the module.
