Got a new truck from my farther in law in 2013 as a wedding gift. Used it to bring a U-haul down south to move from Flordia to OH, bit of pressure on the car and brakes moving though the mountains but nothing a "Truck" should die over.
Among other issues, the transmission had begun a few weeks ago slipping when accelerating from idle. - I'd get to 2.6k RPM's then have the clutch engage and roll me forward.
Had it happen a few more times randomly over a few weeks and checked fluid, to find it fine but with metal pieces in it. Red Flag. as mentioned new planetary and new clutch so just having a new transmission.
This is a low gas mileage truck that can't handle doing what a truck is built for without breaking down. Not ago good product... Everything in the cooling system and brake system on the wheels is now new, including the sway bar links so hoping for no more water-pump explosions, links breaking or anything else on the way home. Selling it first chance I get - I don't want to deal with repairing this stuff again at 80 or 100k miles.
I think it's time to move to a Ford.
