Dakota 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

I own a 2006 Dodge Dakota, it was given to me so I didn't pay anything for it. This Dakota has only got 56,000 miles on it and all of the sudden the transmission gets stuck in first gear. Dodge already has a recall on the transmission for the Dodge Dakota of the same year but only for the manual transmission vehicles with almost the same millage on them, so that really sucks and it's really ridiculous I can't believe how horrible Dodge is!! I'm glad I didn't pay for this truck.

Dakota SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

At first the transmission just started slipping or shifting really hard with a clunk like you ran something over. Now and then it randomly just decides not to shift at all. It will be in first gear and won't shift at all and I will have to pull over, turn car off and remove key, wait a few minutes and start over. Then it usually works again. Sometimes I have to pull over twice. I had the transmission filter and oil changed and it seemed a little better for a week, then it started again. The tranny oil was low, filled it again. I was told it just needs a update from the manufacturer but the dealer says they don't know of anything about any updates like that. I don't believe that at all.
