Replaced tie rods, struts, strut assembly, but the problem has only become worse. At first, it just wouldn't return to its proper place. Now, it's loud and moaning! I was told it was steering gear box (1k) parts only. Then the rack n pinion, the u joints, and the power steering pump (although it does not leak). Bought it 6 years ago and now 8500$ into minus tires.
I've had it looked at prior to noise and was told it won't hurt to drive. Now, I might have to replace the front end! I wish I had gone to mechanical school in the 80s! I'm keeping it no matter. Everybody needs a truck. 200k miles when purchased. Almost 260 now. Why didn't Dodge recall this crap already? After all I have seen, I can guess why it's discontinued. Problem is hard to find the parts. If I need to replace all steering stuff, can I have it rebuild sans power steering? I can't afford 3k, only to still have problems. I just got new tires. I don't drive it much at all.
