We received a safety recall notice P78/NHTSA 14V-770 and contacted a local dealer on 2/16/12 with an E-mail to us that the service department would contact us. To date we have not be contacted. The recall notice indicates that we should have the problem remedied "within a reasonable time". what is considered a reasonable time?

I received a safety recall notice (14V-354) in the mail in December of 2014. This notice pertained to my 2005 Dodge Dakota and the possibility that it contained faulty airbag inflators. On this same date I contacted cutter Dodge in honolulu, hi to schedule a service appointment - I made this appointment via their website (and provided full details of the recall, etc.), as well as over the telephone shortly thereafter. My appointment was scheduled/confirmed for the following week. I attempted to drop my vehicle off for this scheduled service but was informed that they did not have any of the necessary parts at the time, and would not until mid-January (at which time they anticipate having only a limited supply). My concern is that I have been, and currently am, driving a potentially unsafe vehicle and am afraid that I have to wait until at least mid-January for this issue to be corrected. What if the dealer still does not have any/enough parts in mid-January" how much longer will I have to wait if they are unable to accommodate me at that time" it seems that the dealer should receive enough parts to fix this issue in all of the vehicles affected by this recall (seems to be quite a large number), and not just a limited number so as to only help people on a first-come first-served basis. Please let me know what options are available to me so that this issue can get corrected as soon as possible and/or so that I do not have to possibly wait beyond mid-January for a solution. Thank you. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The airbag indicator light on the dash remains on after startup. I have had this checked out 3 times by different mechanics all have said its a sensor. I have had the sensor changed which has fixed the problem for a short while, when I say a short while I mean for at least 2 miles of driving after fixing. It then comes on and remains on.

The airbag light came on, I took it to the dealership to have it checked out. They told me that this was not the first time that they had a truck like mine come in for the same reason, they said that it was the seat airbag sensor. They said that the sensor keeps the bags from deploying when in a wreck.

The passenger side airbag shuts itself off when a bag or some light weight item that weighs less than an adult (no specific weight given) is placed on the passenger seat. The only way to get the airbag back on is to take it to the dealer. They charge $100 every time. The dealer and Chrysler Corp. Are saying that this is normal for this vehicle. I have mentioned that I believe this to be a safety issue, in that if two persons are traveling and the airbag gets shut off, someone either must wait somewhere for maybe 2-3 days until repairs can be made, or ride in the truck without an airbag. This has happened at least 3 times now.

Since purchasing my 2005 Dodge Dakota quad cab in Feb. Of '05, I have noticed several times that the air bag light in the instrument cluster lights up indicating a problem with the system. I have taken the vehicle in to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer checked the "codes" and found nothing that indicated a circuit problem, so they done nothing to repair the vehicle. Two days after the service, the air bag light again came on. The dealer even said that the air bag system would not operate whenever the light is on. When the light comes on, it sometimes stays on 15 minutes, and typically anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes. I am very concerned that the system would fail in the event of a crash, endangering myself and my family. This is the primary family vehicle.

I was involved in a single car accident with my 2005 Dodge Dakota truck. In which I hit a pole. I was driving the speed limit which was 35 mph. When I hit the pole my air bags did not go off. When I called the dealer they said that there are sensors in the middle of the bumper. When I took pictures of the bumper they show that I hit it within inches of the center of the bumper. When I took those pictures to the dealer they said that the sensors are on the support beams. I would like to know why they didn't go off and if there was or is any recalls on this.
