My battery went dead one morning, I went out to the vehicle to try and start it. The interior lights came on when the door opened as normal. When turning the key, all the instrument lights and interior lights chattered and the vehicle would not start. After replacing the battery the vehicle started normally but the Tire pressure caution light stayed on and when opening the rear hatch the cargo lamp and audio chime came on, opening and closing the rear hatch caused the caution light to go out.
The 2004 Durango did not have the option for tire pressure warning. A engine fault code revealed 8 codes for systems not installed on the vehicle. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they tried to do a system data update to only find out the cluster needed to be replaced. How a dead battery could cause the cluster to fail I feel is a factory design flaw. The cost for a new cluster $850.00 and 2 hours shop rate.
