This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Dakota. The contact was braking from 60 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact was able to stop the unintended acceleration by shifting into neutral and turning of the ignition. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a defective oxygen sensor. The dealer replaced the sensor and advised that the repair possibly would not correct the failure. The current and failure mileage was 95,000.
While stopped at a red light today (behind another vehicle) my 2002 Dodge Dakota was rear ended. Rather than just being simply pushed forward, the vehicle abruptly and suddenly accelerated while my foot was on the brake!! perhaps the computer reset for acceleration? my cruise control was on, but I was at a complete stop! my 2 yr old daughter was in the car, and luckily no one was hurt.
While driving about 65mph on the highway no indication or warning, of a problem. The transmission shut down cause is undetermined at this time. Please fill in additional information on this situation. The manufacturer is aware of the problem.
