Dakota Quad Cab 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4.7L engine. The truck idols too high and lately at high speeds 55 mph, the truck surges as if what ever is controlling the speed is not regulated. The dealer has not been able to identify the problem. I am looking for a solution?

Dakota Quad V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

my 2001 automatic Dodge Dakota has 125k miles on it and untill a few days ago it ran perfect like a new truck. but then my rpm's began shooting up from a nice 2k to 3k plus while driving at highway speeds. then they go up and down as i drive. however even though they shoot up i am loosing power almost as if the O/D kicked in or as if i switched to 2nd with my gear selector.

Dakota SLT 4.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

My 2001 dodge Dakota has 80000 miles and has not been running right. It idles high, the engine light has been off and on for the last 15000 miles and sometime it revs up to 3500 rpms before it shifts. Some days it doesn't shift into overdrive. I only get 12-13 mpg with it. Mechanics can't seem to get a reading off the computer that makes sense. Someone told me that the air intake is probably leaking and that is causing problems. Does that make sense and is that a common problem on older Dodge trucks?
