The first thing that happened to this truck, I know some of you will find this hard to believe but it really happened, I am not smoking crack. After filling up with fuel, after starting the engine, before putting the truck in gear, I set the trip, the digital readout for the mileage was advancing like the second hand on a clock. At that time the truck mileage read 38,000 and counting. I drove the truck to the dealership, not more than 9 miles, and the mileage read 43,000. When the service writer came out to witness the mileage climbing he brought the hole service department along with him. Then told me that the truck is no longer under warranty. My ass, I had the tech run the damn thing on the computer, it read 35,000, under the manufacturer warranty for another 2,000. They had the truck for 2 days, when I got the truck back they had set the mileage to read 36596. I argued with the manager but he told me that he set it to the actual mileage for this truck. I asked them about the A/c then they told me the truck had a tune up and everything was addressed. Now that it's 110 here i need the A/C and the damn thing whines, I am worried that I am doing damage to the truck having the A/C on. My truck has 46000 miles on it and out of warranty. I can't be driving around in this heat with no A/C. I am a single mom with 3 teenage boys, so my budget/ or lack of it can only go so far. I would like some kind of response that will narrow the possibilities down so at least when I take it to a shop I will have some what of a clue. If not I will end up getting ripped off again.
