I have always been one to care for my autos, and trucks. Never would I have believe Dodge would produce

so many defective trucks. The clear coat on many of the 2001 Dodge Dakota is flaking off for no apparent

reason.Dodge should not be allowed to claim AMERICAN MADE !!!!!

My 2001 Dodge Quad Cab, maroon Clear coat paint job started peeling on the roof and hood of my car. By 2008 it looked like I just made a Lunar re-entry through the atmosphere which burned the paint off my truck. The paint looked like hell only 7 years after buying this truck for almost 30K. Dodge wouldn't fix it. The truck was such a lemon anyway I went to Maco. They charged extra to sand down and re-prime the whole truck since the paint was so "faulty." I had it repainted cheap with no clearcoat since I planned to get rid of it soon. My partner has my old truck a 1998 Ford ranger and its paint still looks new.

Paint just came off. Went to dealer admitted that bad metal was used on this year but would not fix. Went to Dodge to complain They said how long do you expect a paint job to last. (5 yrs were up) Told them longer than 30,000 miles. Ended up paying to paint vehicle out of pocket. Have seen several at that time and now with same problem

My 2001 Dakota's paint on its roof and hood are peeling. Up until about 6 months ago it was fine. Dodge service adviser told me it "was acid rain" - I know I am a chick but I am not stupid!!! Please.... its defective paint... then he has the nerve to tell me that because my truck had over 100,000 miles he couldn't fix the problem. Never thought that paint on a vehicle was directly connected to the mileage on the engine. I've taken very good care of my truck, it hasn't reciprocated. I am looking to unite with other Dakota paint peeling owners to resolve this issue with Dodge... its defective paint, they need to fix.
