This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Dodge has denied me compensation for a 69% reduction in towing capacity that was offered to other owners solely because I bought the vehicle used. It was purchased 3 mos. Old with 3K miles before the reduction was announced. I have never been offically notified of the defect. I cannot afford to replace the vehicle and continue to tow 2000+ lbs. I believe this is a safety issue. What can the NHTSA do to help dogde understand their responsibilities?
When I originally bought the Dakota R/T, I was told that I could tow up to 6400lbs. I just found out from other source that the towing was reduced to 2000lbs. Called Chrysler sending some letter and a yellow card. Is this a safty issue?
