Clean Throttle Body To Fix Stalling Issue - My truck would stall when exiting the freeway or sometimes on surface streets. I could keep it running by giving it gas above idle speed and holding the brake.
Remove and clean the throttle body fix this issue for another 30k miles or so
Motor would cut off! No electrical interruptions, stopped while shifting, idling, running down the highway (at 60 mph), doesn't seem to matter. It's infrequent, no regular pattern that I can see. I've replaced everything electrical as well as the fuel pump, muffler, timing chain. It's getting to the point where I'm replacing parts that still have their warranty (I'm on the third computer), any help would be very much appreciated.
I've used synthetic oil every 5000 miles since 50,000. The motor still runs smooth except at idle where there is a slight surging of the speed.
its simple the ingine stalls out , it was not that bad of an inconviniece before because it always happen on city streets moving or not movin but wen i realy became consernd is when it happen on I 40 near flags staff Nv @ 70 mph while passing a semy truck ,,, it just stall steering lock in the direction it was pointing and i was heading towards incoming traffick , thank god the brakes work and its manual trans so i slammed the trans into 2 while using the brake ones i came to a full stop i put it in first turn the key and it stared like if it was brand new,,,,,,,,,, i take care of my vehicles from tire presure to ingen oil i have no other major complaints about this year and model i love my truck but the stalling has to go cause that day my wife and two boys wer with me.................
Dodge Dakota I bought used would stall out at stop. To fix I ran a bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaner thru fuel system and changed air filter. Have not had another problem since this occurred. Would suggest doing this every so often and/or cleaning and regapping spark plugs. If run off road be sure to change air filter and oil more often.
It's just really annoying. Only happens when you start it warm. You need to hold the accelerator down to keep it running! Sometimes when I come up to a red light and hit the clutch, it just shuts off! Happens often in 4WD.
