I have fixed everything from 100's of lawnmowers/tractors to outboard boats to Ferraris over 40+ years. I have also been THE FINAL SAFETY INSPECTOR (STEERING/WHEEL ASSEMB.) AT GENERAL MOTORS TRUCK LINE BALTIMORE,MD. I am more than a "backyard mechanic".
A small stone was flung out of left rear tire going past wheel well sheetmetal and plastic panel hitting PLASTIC HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE. The stone had a point that pierced PLASTIC LINE like a needle ! High pressure+small hole RESULTED IN GASOLINE/AIR CLOUD similar to fuel/air BOMB USED BY THE AIR FORCE.
Thankfully I caught it going down my driveway on my way to special dinner. Patched it with no problems till approx 40k miles later; the PLASTIC LINE STARTED TO FRACTURE near top of tank resulting in small slow leak.
Pulled tank-replaced lines-checked float-cleaned internal fuel pump filter and put tank back in truck.
Gentlemen, The ONLY reason I signed up here was to HELP William Z fix his problem !!!!!!!!!!!! I have a rare type of Arthritis and it IS QUITE PAINFUL TO TYPE HERE .
