While driving home with my wife on the freeway, the sunroof suddenly exploded. We had no idea what it was at first, but just heard some crazy sound. I slid open the internal sunroof cover partially to see what the sound was and glass started raining in on us. I ended up pulling over on the side of the freeway, getting out, and cleaning up as much of the glass as possible so it wouldn't keep flying off and hitting other cars behind us.
There were no big trucks kicking up rocks, the freeway wasn't very rough when it happened, we weren't turning or doing anything that might stress the chassis or put strain on it. It just spontaneously shattered, and sent glass flying down the back of the car. So not only is the sunroof busted, but the roof, trunk, spoiler are all scratched up with big chips of paint taken out.
I'll be talking to a dealer tomorrow but I'm not getting my hopes up. From reading other posts, it looks like Dodge won't fix this under warranty, which is bullshit... somethings defective here.
