The Uconnect Navigation/Radio unit (8.4 size screen) started crashing AGAIN!
This is the THIRD time I have had it replaced over the past 3 years. Was fine the first year, then started intermittently not coming on when car was started OR dying OR rebooting while driving!
Problem is really bad because it controls not only the Navigation and radio, but all the knobs and controls in the center dash area. Things like TEMPERATURE, Fan speed, radio volume (turn the knob, nothing), seat heaters, back up camera/warning system and more.
Imagine getting up and going out to the car, the temp outside is 50 degrees (not bad, I live in SoCal), but the seat 'cooling' is turned on as is the air conditioning blasting at full - why? Because the last time I drove it was when it was HOT out. Also, radio is blasting (not great in the morning) and I cannot adjust volume!
Next, I put it in reverse, but no backup camera and my mirrors are set to point down (useful in parking lots). Now I have to be EXTRA careful when backing out of my own driveway. No warnings, no nothing.
This is just ONE scenario. Others are having it happen WHILE DRIVING - just goes black screen and can't do anything until you shut the car off AND wait with the door closed for about 45 seconds, then restart the car, only to find it's still out. Then on third try it works. Woo hoo.
Doesn't happen every day, so of course dealer can't diagnose it. So he replaces unit. Good to go for a few months and then bam... starts all over again...
This last time, I had to use my extended warranty (good thing I conned them out of giving me one at the last minute when I bought the car), but that STILL COST ME $100 for the deductible!!
