There was a previous recall for this specific vehicle covering only the 160 amp alternator, so the dealer never looked at this 180 amp alternator when he reviewed four other items. Chrysler reimbursed only half the expense, and said other half would be paid only if NHTSA issued a recall. So far, NHTSA has ordered Chrysler to recall 160 and 220 amp alternators for fires in various Dodge vehicles in this 2015 model year.
