This issue happened fairly early in my ownership of this car. On a regular basis (especially on long trips of an hour or more) the drivers seat near the seatbelt latch would make a popping noise almost continuously until I decided to leave the car. Then it would start up again at exactly an hour later. Also, it would happen as soon as I got in the car. This issue was never resolved in the four trips to the dealership in Lancaster California because they could not reproduce it. They put over 200 miles on my car to try to reproduce it. I take my car to the Dodge dealership in San Fernando California and they had it all day. This dealership gets my kudos because they actually took the time to tighten and/or reset every screw in the driver seat. Five trips to the dealership later, a week of lost vacation time, and the issue was fixed to my satisfaction. The dealership in San Fernando didn't know what they did, but what they did was exactly the cure.
The problem with dealerships these days is that if they can't reproduce it, they won't lift a finger. Only once did the dealership in Lancaster try to help. They replaced the seat belt latch assembly on the drivers side. As many times as I went in there to try to get them to acknowledge the problem, I thought it might get through to them that I have a problem with my car.
With this being extremely intermittent, but wildly annoying, I hope someone has a clue as to what this was. Once it starts you will never forget it. The sound mainly comes from straight down from the belt buckle latch. If you have this issue you should be able to feel it pop from touching the metal frame of the seat or the seat buckle assembly.
