Just thought I would share a scary experience we had with our 2009 dodge charger(24,000 miles), and hope that you will share this with the public.
My wife was traveling along i270 on a very rainy day when all of a sudden she lost control of the car. She managed to pull the car to the side of the freeway without getting into a accident.
When she got out of the car shaken up she noticed the font tire was deflated.
Thinking she had a puncture we changed the tire for the spare and took the car to the tire repair shop.
They informed us that the tire pressure sensor had corroded, cracked, and fell off, which resulted to the sensor malfunction and let the tire deflate.
They also informed us that there were two other sensors that were broken and that we could have the same experience once again. Which could result into a very bad accident.
We informed chrysler of this malfunction of the tire pressure sensors, they informed us that before they do anything they would need a diagnostic check on the car. We had this done and was told that the sensors should not have corroded or malfunctioned, but they did.
After numerous emails to chrysler and not a lot of feedback from them, we were informed they would take care of us.
The car was booked in to the dealership and along we went to get it repaired. Upon arrival we were informed that they were only going to do two of them and we would have to pay for the others.
The dealership also informed me that they were only doing the two out of good will and that chrysler was not doing anything to help us. Even though the tire pressure sensors had corroded, malfunctioned and deflated the tire at 60mph.
Once again I contacted chrysler and was informed this was not a chrysler issue. but a dealership issue.
How can this be when this is a huge safety issue which can result into a bad accident.
I would like to make other dodge charger owners aware of this problem. I did some research on the internet only to find out other people were having the same problem.
How can chrysler not be concerned about this. Unbelievable.
We are now forced because of the safety issue to have regular valves fitted to the car to give us peace of mind when traveling.
