Basically, when you brake too fast or accelerate to pass another vehicle, the transmission disengages and you have to slow way down (15 mph) or pull off the road, shut the Charger off and start it up again. We went through the "stuck in park" thing in 2014 and there was a plastic clip broken in the shifter, so when they told me it would be $300 or so to fix it, I went online, bought the part and fixed it myself for $14.
Anyway, apparently (according to the mechanic) there is a sensor between the transmission and engine that controls the shifting function. He flat out said it would be a waste of time, labor and money to drop the transmission and replace the sensor. No recall. Now the left headlight is out and after replacing the bulb, the receptacle and harness, I am told that it has to do with the turn signal control and that it needs to be replaced. Granted, the car is old and well used, but weird crap has happened since the day I gave it to my wife - dash lights being freaky, rubber window gasket coming out, door gasket coming off, hood paint on the nose blistering and fading. Strange stuff. Anyway, it sounds like lots of owners have experienced the same stuff happening.
