Car was slipping out of gear as we drove it. You could stop it and then restart it and it would drive for a few miles then happen all over again. Took to dealership they said that they had not worked on many SRT8's and that it would have to be a trail and error type of thing.
4 mos. latter we got the car back, they said it was fixed. Had same problem backing out of drive way after their tech had delivered the car to us. Called them back and they brought car back to dealership. Again it was gone for over 40 days and again they said it was fixed. Again same problem happened, did make it from our business to our house, this time approx. 10 miles. Called them again and brought it back to dealership they took transmission apart and said it had blue smoked meaning fluid had over heated and caused all internal parts to burn up. Put new transmission in, brought it back to us, same thing happened again. WE were ready to shot ourselves at this point.
They took car back and called the Dodge Hotline and then replaced the computer. We were told at first that the new transmission would cost $2,500 to $ 3,000.00, when they gave me this price I questioned that price telling the service manager that it would be more. HE got on the phone and came back to me and assured us that was the price. We got a bill for $6,000.00 dollars for just the transmission not to include the new computer that was probably the problem to start with. I did get a few different witnesses to listen in on our conversation with the dealership and they heard the quote that I was given.
To date I have only paid them $3,000.00 dollars and have told them and really begged them to take me to court . I still get a bill every now and then for this but we will not pay more than the quote. In the 7 years we have owned the car we have spent $22,000.00 dollars in repairs.
