My Dodge Charger has been down for a month. I called the closest dealership when it occurred the week it happened. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership the following Monday afternoon. When the tow truck driver came to pick up the car, which was in the garage, he had to wrestle with the mechanism to get the car in reverse. The other option was to physically DRAG the car out of the garage.
Upon getting the car to the dealership, we discovered an issue getting the key out of the car. The dealership was going to leave the key in the ignition and let the battery die. They were also unconcerned about leaving the car unlocked with the key in it. Their response was nobody could steal it. I pointed out that if the tow driver could, so could a thief. They were also unconcerned about the battery dying and losing all electronics, including the aftermarket radio. Eventually they got a shop hand to come and within a minute he had the key out.
It took the dealership three weeks to get to the car and call me about the repair. They have advised me the cost is about $530. Looking online the replacement for the broken pink thingy is less than $25. THIS IS OBSCENE.
The reason I took the car to the dealer is because of other issues. They gas tank has an issue where the car stalls after putting gas in it. VERY BAD when turning left with oncoming traffic. There is also a recall on the air bag. After three weeks they dealership hasn't mentioned the airbag.
