Challenger RT 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,308 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Transmission shifts hard while slowing, similar to a person slamming on the brakes repeatedly without even applying brakes. Also upon acceleration from a stop, the transmission seems to stick and once it finally moves, it bucks several times before evening out. This has happened many many times and 95% of the time it is while making left hand turns. The problem has nearly caused an accident a few times as I was not able to accelerate while crossing oncoming traffic. This car has been to the dealer about 5 times (next appointment is tomorrow), yet there has been absolutely no resolution because they refuse to do anything until there is a code for them to read.

Challenger R/T 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

Really hard shifts especially going slowly in sport mode Harsh downshifts whenever you let off the gas. It feels like the car is about to come to a stop without ever pressing the brake. Consistent noise in the rear of the car that seems to coincide with the shifts and especially downshifts. This started happening about a month after I bought the car new. When slowing to a roll 5 mph or less, then trying to accelerate, the gas pedal does not respond until to push down harder, then you get a really harsh shift that pushes you forward then everything is fine. The dead pedal feeling happens from a dead stop as well but mostly in sport mode. A couple times when I tired to accelerate quickly, the transmission just disengaged and bucked a few times, then picked back up. Mostly this was going up or down a hill in the summer with the air conditioner on. The transmission seems to downshift(gives less power) in response to pushing the gas pedal down at times. Sometimes when accelerating the transmission feels like it is slipping. I went to one dealer in DE and dropped off the car but they wanted to re-schedule stating they were too busy to get to it. I then went to another dealer and drove it with a foreman and he said it needed a software update. The update changed nothing. Went back to same dealer and another software change recommended but it also changed nothing. The car is more jerky than ever, and I really baby the thing. Plus I get a combined 16 mph under extreme light throttle and mostly highway driving. I'm thinking I should be getting at least 18 combined given how slow I drive and that it's mostly highway at only 65. I think the trans problem may be causing the poor mileage. I will call the dealer and try dropping it off. I always worry that they abuse the thing but how much worse can it get than having a sh*t transmission?

Challenger SXT Plus 3.6L V6 8 Speed

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,400 miles

My 2015 SXT Plus Challenger is shifting to soon into 2nd and 3rd gear when I first take it out in the morning. Giving this heavy jerk as it occurs. After it warms up, the problem goes away and the car shifts smoothly. Also, I randomly experience a hard downshift when braking for a stop light every now and again. I brought the vehicle in to the dealership, but they said everything checked out fine. I guess I will have to try and run it over first thing in the morning when it occurs. It is very frustrating since this is a brand new vehicle and I am concerned this is causing unnecessary wear on my transmission.
