When the cruise control was applied while driving 65 mph, the rpms increased and the vehicle accelerated to 114 mph. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and disconnected the cruise control. As the contact continued driving without the cruise control activated, the vehicle proceeded to accelerate and decelerate simultaneously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the mechanic stated that the power train control module and the alternator generator regulator failed.
