I am in my livingroom planning my day and really looking forward to the goals I've set to achieve for the day. So I get out of the house, press my key fob to unlock my Challenger's door. The doors do not open and I blink at first thinking I did not press the right button. I press the button a couple of times and nothing happens. Finally I used the emergency key to unlock the driver door. I step on the brake pedal and I immediately noticed that it is not responding to pressure from my foot. I also noticed that pushing the start button nothing was happening. I could not see any lights on my dashboard. I could not open my trunk either to check my battery. I finally called my insurance and a tow truck was sent out to tow my car to the dealership.
My car was jump started at the dealership and an checked for electrical issues. I was told that my alternator and battery were not working. They told me that my battery was dead due to the fact that the alternator had consumed all the juice in my new battery. The sad part about this ordeal is that my car dealer does not have the alternator to replace the failed one. I am told that it will cost $500 to order the new alternator, $180 for a new battery, and the service fee is $160.
I am sooooooo mad with about this and the worst thing is I missed an exam today. I heard that there is a recall on 2012 Dodge Challengers with faulty alternators, I don't know if this is true. But one thing I know is I will never buy a Dodge or Chrysler again. I will do everything to advice my friends and family not to buy any of these brands. I know some of these brands look really flashy and sporty, but I think they're just a piece of junk. My dealer told me that my repairs are not covered by my warranty. I don't really buy this and I am going to call Chrysler and tell them what I think about this issue.
