Re: A/C failure, clutch, compressor and pulley/rotor seize on A/C unit. Smelt a burning mechanical or maybe rubber smell initially. Made a groaning sound a few shut offs and restarts later, a/c quit. Used WD40 to un-seize pulley. Later a hammer at points to further free it up until it is replaced. Might by oem re-manufactured replacement to save on a new one. Seems like other people have had similar problem(s)...
low and behold about 1500 miles later guess what it was making noise again-took it back and had yet another air conditioning compressor placed on the van.....
At about 150-200 miles my van starting making this really odd noise like a rattling from the engine-took it to the dealership and was told that it was a bad air conditioning compressor again, and that they would have to order a new one for me-they did and replaced it...
