Ltr fr john harisiadis (il) request an investigation into the defective rotors used on Chrysler/Dodge minivans, he has experience w/ Chrysler/Dodge in getting his 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan repaired. Consumer feels that dealers are putting defective rotors on vehicle deliberately. Vehicle was taken to have a noise checked and was told that the rotors were "pitted and rusted". there was a noise in the brakes. It was diagnosed as the front wheel rotors which were pitted and rusted. The consumer needed a letter from john harisiadis who requested an investigation into defective rotors used on Chrysler/Dodge mini vans replaced. The rotors deteriorated prematurely which caused a noise when the brakes were applied.
While driving, the rotors experienced premature failure, which caused the vehicle to experience extended stopping distance. The consumer stated the rotors were very stiff, and the dealer was unable to cut them down.
The service technician informed consumer that the front brake pads had 45 percent of pad left and the rear brakes had 75 percent left. The front rotors were pitted and rusting from the inside out.
While driving heard a loud noise and grinding sound. Steering wheel started vibrating. Had mechanic to put up vehicle, and mechanic indicated no squealing. Warning system on brakes, and brake rotors were totally trashed on one side. Please add VIN.
While driving down a steep incline, consumer applied brakes and the steering wheel started vibrating. Took vehicle to dealer and dealer indicated rotors were brown in color and warped. Dealer turned rotors.
