This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Transmission breakdown caused the engine to shut down, consumer feels there is inferior material used in the pin, the consumer is asking for a refund for repairs and other expenses.
While driving vehicle started making a loud noise. Wheels were dragging like it did not want to pull. Took vehicle to an auto body shop, and mechanic indicated needed new transmission.
Airbag light came on and stayed on, no horn or cruise control. A few days later I read about Chrysler minivans being investigated because of faulty clockspring assemblies. After reading that, I called our dealer and asked if there was a recall on it. None! this is definitely a safety issue. No airbag, no horn means dangerous driving conditions. We had to pay to have the part replaced. After reading through 96 complaints about this part on your website, I thought I would add my complaint. Chrysler paid for our new transmission, but we had to pay labor. Also paid for the new elect. For ac knob.

The norn does not work/ cruise control does not work, and air bag light stays on, parking brake light turns on every time you turn the wheel to the left! windshield wipers come on and off when they please, we have had the transmission replaced at 68,000 miles, we were told that we cannot pass inspection at our military base overseas until this safety feature is fixed!
When I start to drive the transmission takes a litte time to get speed then when I am stopping and I only have like about 5 miles to go to a complete stop I feel like if the van wants to continue to run or for me is like the transmission and I heard that all Dodge Caravan gets damage from the transmotion and I would like to know which is the list of recall from the my Dodge Caravan please.
In middle of intersection vehicle stopped moving and engine was still running. None of warning indicating lights came on as vehicle hesitated to cut off. No contact has been made to dealer.
Clockspring "broke" airbag light came on and horn/cruise control would not work. Replaced, but same symptoms are happening again. Transmission failed and was replaced. I found this has happened in so many minivans made by Chrysler.
1. airbag light stays on, horn quit working. We were told this is the clock spring failure. 2. engine check light on - computer code indicates this is a coil pack failure. 3. transmission replaced at 55,000 mi. 4. windshield wipers come on for no reason 5. A/C freon charge at 98,000 6. water pump failure at 98,000
More than a dozen times this van will not start. Dealership cannot locate problem, and usually it occurs from cold start, but has also occurred over 5 times while driving and this is not safe. Also lost transmission sensor and that killed car while driving but has been replaced. Chrysler is not helping and I am nervous driving my kids in this van. Had it 2 years and have been stranded more than a dozen times. Noticed others with similar unsafe situations and hope Chrysler will address them soon.
While driving about 20 mph heard a loud explosion with a bang in front of vehicle. Later, found out that transmission had a big hole in it, causing vehicle to lose all power. Had contacted dealer, and they were aware of situation which had not been solved. Consumer is requsting reimbursement for towing, rental car, motel, and repair expenses. Air conditioner failed.
Complete transmission failure without warning. Repair shop says the only fix is complete overhall or replacement at a cost of about $1,850. With only 41,000 miles on this vehicle, one would expect some compensation from the manufacturer since they have been well aware of these early transmission failures on these Caravan for quite a while.
