The airbag light is on, the horn does not work, and the crusie control does not function......a clockspring malifuntion from all reports....and definetly a safety issue and hazard. Will attempt to replace but at a high cost....
The air bag light illuminated on the dashboard and remained on. The horn and cruise control were inoperable when the consumer attempted to use them. The consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic to have it inspected. The mechanic informed the consumer that the recall(04V480000) for the clock spring was not for this vehicle identification number. Please fill in additional information.
Vehicle was experiencing the same defect and consequences as stated in recall 04V2800000 for the air bag clock spring. But this model year was not included in the recall.
I complained to the Chrysler's customer service department requesting that they fix a defective part free of charge. They refused to repair it for free and recommended that I fix it asap since its not safe to drive. It is a defect and I have even read it as a recall in other documents. The airbag and the horn does not work. Texas will not even safety approve my vehicle without this being fixed.

In 2003, the air bag indicator light came on, in my 1996 Dodge Caravan, and the horn stopped working, which both have created an un-safe operating vehicle. I called the dealer and they indicated the "recall" for the clock spring, but are refusing to repair the problems as my vehicle was over 70,000 miles. Now 2004 and the problem still exists and now the vehicle has about 95,000 miles on it. This serious safety and potentially fatal problem needs to be corrected immediately and should not cost the consumer any money whatsoever.
We received a recall notice on the clockspring mechanism of our Dodge Caravan which affects the airbag, but when I took it back to the dealership we bought it at Dodge city in hermitage, pa, they refused to fix it unless we also paid for other repairs.
The vehicles clockspring failed prior to recall notice. The consumer submitted the invoice for reimbursement but the consumer did not receive full reimbursement. The manufacturer did not reimburse the consumer for the diagnostic test.
I submitted a request for reimbursement for the clock spring repair (safety recall) in my then 1996 Dodge Caravan on January 28, 2003. I have not heard from daimler Chrysler since. I have telephoned and sent them a second letter requesting reimbursement but again have not heard from them. I am disappointed and frustrated that they take this position. What can I do to get their attention.
Wipers turn on intermittently, inappropriately. Air bag light illuminated. Cruise doesn't work, horn doesn't work. Other than that, the car is in excellent condition and has been maintained well. ***dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****769501
The clock spring wiring harness on the steering wheel failed and caused the air bag, horn and cruise control to fail. It is a safety issue because the horn and the driver's air bag do not function. *******dims 11 IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis******770791.
