Air bag light has come on and will not go off. Consumer has taken vehicle to local dealership, and they informed him that defective component was clock spring. The horn and the cruise control failed as well.
ABS braking system light airbag light are on dashboard. Also, horn doesn't work. Dealership is aware of problems. Dealer replaced clock spring. Starter failed and was replaced.
Clockspring failed also disabling the horn and the cruise control. After contacting the dealer about the airbag light being on and describing the symptoms I was told it was going to be the clockspring. The service department acknowledged this is a common failure in the Caravan but refused to warrant it as veh out of manufacturers warranty. Contacted daimler-Chrysler customer service and they acknowledged the problem is widespread but no recall issued and they are unwilling to reimburse me at this time.
When turning on the vehicle, I noticed the air bag light did not go off. The next day I saw an article in the paper about the problem and upon checking the horn and cruise control, discovered they did not work either. I took the article to the dealer but they said the item was not under recall and would cost $210 to repair. I'll wait for you to issue the recall!
I saw an article in the paper that said this was related to the clockspring assembly. I was preparing to have it fixed when I saw the article about your investigation and plan to contact the local dealer to see if they will repair for free.
On the air cond. We lose freon every year after we run the heater during the winter. Have had it checked and can't find a problem, but yet hot air come out when we run air cond. Until we have more freon put in. Air bag lights stays on all the time. Was told it is the spring, but yet they say it will not affect the air bag, but yet now the cruise control stopped working and was told that it was related to air bag spring but the cruise controll stopped working about 1 1/2 years later after airbag light started coming on and staying on.
While traveling noticed air bag indicator light on. Technician stated clock spring neededto be replaced. Also, cruise control needed to be replaced due to clock spring. Please provide fuirther information.
Consumer states the electrical power for the horn, cruise control, and air bag were inoperable, ABS light illuminated, local garage replaced an electrical ring assembly int the steering wheel assembly.
Air bag light won't go out, horn doesn't work. Delayed action because of expense. Oil leak: Ignored because I thought it was usual valve cover leak. Now loses about a quart of oil a day. Dealer determined it was head gasket. Total cost to be about $1500. Failure dates approximate.
Dealer would not replace clock spring under extended warranty. My cruise control is inoperative as well my air bag dash lite is on. Dodge has a problem with this and should be held accountable....thank you.... jeff roberts.
Since I have had this vehicle, the air bag light comes on and will stay on thus I do not know if the air bag would work or not if needed. My cruise control alternates working and not as does the check engine light. Most of the time the check engine light is on and everytime I have had it checked, I have been told they reset it and everything look good. The computer does not show anything wrong. The cruise will come on sometimes and it will not at others. I think this vehicle as well as others I have talked to has a defect and I would like to see you check it out and have them do a recall and correct the electrical problems. I took my vehicle back several times during the first few months I had it for repairs and the same type probles keep occurring. My wipers will also at times come on with out being turned on. My sisters Caravan does the same thing.
Had started vehcle when air bag light remained on and failed to go off. Horn failed to work as well as cruise control when needed. Possible clockspring failure.
Cruise control stopped working, and windshield wipers work intermittently. Dealership is aware of problem. Mechanic at the dealership told consumer she needed a clock spring.
