Recall 00 V 268 000/fuel leakages: Vehicle leaking fuel from fuel injection rail. Delaer notified, and informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under recall due to VIN. Feel free to provide any further information.
Fuel is leaking from fuel rail and O-ring seal onto motor. Dealer has replaced fuel rail/ O-ring seal and gasket. A recall has been issued on vehicle's make and model; however, owner's notification has not been sent.
While traveling felt a gas smell inside vehicle. Dealer has been notified that fule rail had a crack. The description of the failure is the same as that of NHTSA's campain V268000, but the dealer indicated that the consumer's vehicle was not included in that recall.
The vehicle has died four times at higway speed leaving the vehicle without steeringand brakes. The dealer is unable to reproduce the defect and guesses that the vehicle has a problem with the fuel pump. The problem started at 38K or right out of the warranty and they do not know what has caused it. I have a two year old boy and have had him with me when it broke down inthe the winter. Chrysler says their records are proprietary and will not tell me if they have had problems with their fuel pumps.
While driving gas fumes get into to car, and consumer can also smell fumes around the outside of the car. Consumer has contacted the dealer, says that problem is due to integral fuel gas return fitting on tank. Recall was already performed on this part. Problem still exists.
