This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Air bag light has come on and will not go off. Consumer has taken vehicle to local dealership, and they informed him that defective component was clock spring. The horn and the cruise control failed as well.
The two times we had failures with similar symtoms (horn, engine light, cruise, wipers, etc.... ) different parts were replaced. Recently we had another "fluke" with the wipers going haywire (starting on there own) but it has not done it again since.
ABS braking system light airbag light are on dashboard. Also, horn doesn't work. Dealership is aware of problems. Dealer replaced clock spring. Starter failed and was replaced.
Clockspring failed also disabling the horn and the cruise control. After contacting the dealer about the airbag light being on and describing the symptoms I was told it was going to be the clockspring. The service department acknowledged this is a common failure in the Caravan but refused to warrant it as veh out of manufacturers warranty. Contacted daimler-Chrysler customer service and they acknowledged the problem is widespread but no recall issued and they are unwilling to reimburse me at this time.
When turning on the vehicle, I noticed the air bag light did not go off. The next day I saw an article in the paper about the problem and upon checking the horn and cruise control, discovered they did not work either. I took the article to the dealer but they said the item was not under recall and would cost $210 to repair. I'll wait for you to issue the recall!
Air bag light won't go out, horn doesn't work. Delayed action because of expense. Oil leak: Ignored because I thought it was usual valve cover leak. Now loses about a quart of oil a day. Dealer determined it was head gasket. Total cost to be about $1500. Failure dates approximate.
Had started vehcle when air bag light remained on and failed to go off. Horn failed to work as well as cruise control when needed. Possible clockspring failure.
Having problems with horn not working when in use. Cruise control, when in use, would not work properly, and windshield wipers come on and go off on their own. Air bag light is on coincident with other failures.
Ea 01 007; air bag clock spring: Air bag light stayed on, and horn assembly did not operate. Dealer was notified. Head gasket and time chain replaced due to tremendous oil loss, engine light is now illuminated, vehicle's temperature gauge went up and vehicle locked up. Windshield wipers come on by themselves. Sliding door latch inoperable.
Was driving and noticed air bag light came on & stayed. Horn failed to work properly. Had used cruise control, and it failed to work after being initiated.
Ea-01-007; consumer has noticed air bag light illuminated on dashboard. Also, horn was inoperable/ windshield wipers worked intermittently, and electrical door locks failed to lock or unlock. Also, note ABS brake light illuminated on the dash, brakes have failed. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer unable to determine cause of failures.
