Bought used 1996 Dodge in Sept 2003 and have replace brakes, rotor, and calipers 6 times. Mechanics don't know what else it could be. Brakes also lock when I press on them and hit bump at same time causing van to slide with me and my infant in it. Have to replace brakes and rotors every 2-3 months something needs to be done by the Dodge company to recall these Dodge Caravan, this site has about 50% on complaints on brakes and rotors.
Front brake rotors are prematurely wearing away, rotors have warped, and have been replaced four times already.. consumer states rotors wear causing vibration and pulsation when stopping, also belt drive and tensioner belt were repalced, and the engine light was on.
Consumer took vehicle to the dealership. Mechanic told him that T rear drums and front rotors were warped. Material they used for the brakes was defective. Mechanic put vehicle on the machine to smooth them out. However, consumer is still expericencing a loud squeaking noise coming from the rear wheel.
Front rotors warped. Mechanic reported that when he turned them on the lathe he uncovered pits about 1/4" in diameter just below the disc surface. I asked if this was possibly a manufacturing defect and he refused to say yes or no.
Brakes are pulsating, the pedal jump up and down, can hear rubbing. Dealer was notified and states that the pads are good, but the rotors are bad. Also other vehicles have had the same problems, but not this particular one. Consumer states that the speed ranges from 35-50 mph when driving.
While driving up the driveway vehicle cuts off. Had no warning. Also, the gauges on dashboard do not work like they should, especially, odometer/fuel and pressure gauges. In addition, brake rotors had to be replaced twice/sliding doors cannot be opened properly with or without key. Vehicle towed to dealer to check out problems.
Consumer experiencing problem with the front brake rotors rusting out. Contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced rotors and pads. Problem still occurs. Parts have been replaced on a number of occasions. *akrotors were scored and pitted.
