On the passenger & drivers side doors the sheet metal surrounding the bottom hinges is cracking, with the cracks beconing increasingly worse with time. The passenger door began to open about 3 mos. Ago with the sound like that of a coke can being folded midway on the cylinder, then being folded back & forth. Upon inspection, I noted a small crack on the sheet metal that the hinge is bolted to. Today the crack extends above & below the top & bottom of the hinge approx 1/2 inch. The drivers side door started making the "coke-can" sound roughly a week ago; and has a crack slightly longer than the hinge is high. After reading reports of people having their hinges disconnect from their Caravan due to what I regard as an apparent fatigue failure, I am concerned.
Consumer states that with no warning the two front doors is falling off the hinges and it will be hard to open for the consumer to enter or exit the vehicle. Dealer notified
Passengers side door was defective, and at bottom of door panel, has separated. Also, drivers side door will not unlock from outside, can only unlock it from inside. Sometimes passengers door will not stay closed. Consumer states that the passengers door is totally dislocated at the bottom hinge and will not stay fastened, it sometimes will open while vehicle is in motion, drivers side door will not open from the outside.
Both the driver and passenger doors have broken away from the hinges. We contacted the dealer and their reply was that the wind probably blew back the doors and broke the hinges. How can this happen to both doors in exactly the same spot. We have had to replace the transmission twice, once a year after we bought the car, and another about a year or so ago.
