Second owners, bought car with 52,230 miles in 2016. Current mileage 93,18600. Occurring only 4 times between 2020 and 2021 was a total lack of acceleration below 30 mph. Most recent occurrence was 15 Dec 2021, previous was October 2021, 30 June 2021 before that and once before. The engine does not stop, it just won't accelerate when the gas pedal is pushed.
Happens at low speeds such as while merging with other traffic, such as when coming out of a parking lot. Has happened while just driving on city street. Has not happened while at highway speeds thus far. Driver pushes gas pedal and the engine does not respond, no tachometer change, RPM stays where it was before gas pedal depressed. Driver has to pull over, shut engine down, and restart. Problem clears, until next time, whenever that may be. No check engine light ever illuminated, no code ever registers based on checks through diagnostics. Only one time a P167A code registered, to learn that this code isn't even carried by Dodge anymore and appeared not to be a factor regarding the lack of acceleration.
The throttle body was cleaned Aug 2019, then replaced in May 2020. The TIPM was replaced in Jan 2021. Battery showing a low voltage condition and was recently replaced on 19 November 2021 (Dealer thought this might be the issue, after everything else that was done). Still the problem remains.
Lack of acceleration, especially during merge situations, is a clear safety hazard that will ultimately lead to an accident. Right now, the car is unreliable. If anyone has experienced this, and actually had it fixed, we would really appreciate knowing what resolved this.
