CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I've had my car over 3 years. I've driven a handful of times over the last year. No exaggeration. My indicator light stays on 99% of the time. when it dings and flashes I know I'm about to lose speed. A couple times my car just died.(at a slow speed). It was at a trusty mechanic for 9 months. Other than replacing a sensor, his computers came back nothing wrong. BTW, I still owe 4 grand on this orange coffin I can't safely drive. And I have to pay full coverage ins on a car I can't enjoy WTF!!!!!!

2007 DODGE CALIBER, YOU PUT IN GEAR AND DOES NOT WANT TO PULL OR ACCELERATE, SOUNDS LIKE GRINDING NOISE, CV AXLES HAVE BEEN CHECKED, THEY ARE IN GREAT SHAPE, BUT THIS TRANSMISSION SUCKS. WENT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY ARE GOING TO DIAGNOSE IT NEXT WEEK, SAID COULD BE THE FILTER STOPPED UP OR THE FLUID PROBLEM, BUT DEALERS ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN CHECKED THIS, (AT THEIR MERCY),.I HAVE SEEN SEVERALS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE AND JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED BY DODGE. YOU BUY A CAR YOU WORK HARD TO GET AND PAY FOR. TALKED TO DODGE AND THEY SAY THEY HAVENT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS BUT SORRY ITS OUT OF WARRANTY. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BY DODGE BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN ARTICLES WHERE THEY WERE AWARE OF A PROBLEM. I THINK THEY SHOULD OWNED UP TO IT OR HOPEFULLY THE GOVERMENT WILL MAKE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM

Caliber SXT 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

On 11 August 2014 while I was driving my suddenly my Dodge Caliber SXT CVT 2.0L petrol automatic transmission call was not pulling. It was like driving on 1st gear in a manual transmission car. The engine was revving up to 4000 rpm and the maximum speed was 20 mph..I took the car to the Dodge dealer and they diagnosed it for a fee of £108( Approximately USD 130)and said they couldn't read it may be a fault in the gear box or electric censer and not sure. They wanted me to do another check and it would cost £550 (nearly USD $700) only to check and not for the repair since they cant identify.

I took it to a local garage and was told by the mechanic that the gear box has to be changed. I have to spent £860 (USD $ 1400) for a second hand gear box from the approved Dodge parts (ACD Lancashier)in the UK. Then the mechanic ripped me off for another £600 plus £150(USD $1200) and fixed it.

Now again after one year today 28/08/2015 I am having the same problem and really worried about the expenses. It's a nightmare for me and I am not that rich to spend such a big amount for repairs.

I don't know what to do...Please help me to solve this problem as I can't effort to spend anymore
