CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.
The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.
Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.
We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.
Sorry for saying this, this car is terrible for noises Front suspension / Rear suspension and very bad Ball Joints, Tie Rod /Arm Control. Seems like every couple years they need replacement / repair. Too much to absorb. Also not mentioning others, like paint peeling off / rear wiper never works for a long time. These the major problems so far I personal encounter every time / Rust Rear & Front bars or chase which they are serious safety issues. I'm really disappointed with the out come of this car. Hope Dodge will look carefully how to build their cars along
responsible for arranging to fix these major problems as recall as indicated on their website. Thank you!.
I feel like there is no end to the problems. At the beginning of the problems I should have gotten rid of the car, but now I have so much money spent in repairs that I can't afford another car even tho the repairs haven't ended. I've worked all life, now I'm retired and worried every time I go somewhere if my car is going to get me back home.
After having the tie rods replaced, my struts and ball joints went out. At this time the control arms were replaced. An ENTIRE suspension overhaul at this mileage is a terrible thing to deal with.
I saddened me greatly because I simply went in to check the breaks and was advised of the lack of safety i was facing. The cost was outrageous. Now i just want to get rid of the car. Very very sad. Toyotas are better.
Car is used for mainly highway use, no rough, dirt, gravel or cinder roads. Poor quality parts used on this car and after market supplier are slow to make parts. I do not what OEM parts used as replacement, you only get 50% life out of them.
This is the third or forth time I have had the car in for repair on the front end, they have replaced one ball joint, stabilizer bushings, and now it went in for a noise in front end and when you hit a bump the car would jump sideways. Well Steve from Baumans called me and said the ball joint was out of socket and the struts were leaking and needed to be replaced and he said my warranty was up 60 days ago even though I only have 27000 miles on it and I have owned it for 3 years and 2 months This is just wrong all that dealership wants is to have them do the work at the retail rate. Chrysler shou;d cover this with out a doubt, and the dealership should fire Steve for being this way.

The noises, the grinding, the steering, the constant wearing of the tires, the grease accumulating on the hub caps.
The car is a death mobile.
