CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.
The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.
Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.
We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.
I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber with 34,000 miles. I noticed a loud noise coming from the front end. I had it checked at two different places, and told the same thing, that among the control arms needing to be replaced the left outer tie rod needed to be replaced at a cost of $840-$1000. This is crazy to have these kind of problems with such a new car. I plan on going to the local dealer tomorrow and see if they stand behind their product!!!
call is not old enough to have all four tie rods to bad 1 month after my warranty runs out
Update from Apr 20, 2012: Now at 73,000 both of my ball joints are bad. They are so bad they did not want me to drive it. It has wore out my tires and I just spent 941.00 for tires and ball joints....Yikes.....
