CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

In regards to the 2007 dodge caliber, I will NEVER buy another Dodge product again. In the 2 years of owning it I have replaced brakes, tie rods, throttle body, all pulleys and tension pulley, serpentine belt, and now I am facing either a new engine or a time chain. I have done my fair share of research on this car and I can't find a good review any where. I have replaced more than what I have stated above. In my opinion the Dodge dealership and or company should provide a refund for all customers that have purchased a Caliber. I state this based on all of the negative reviews and claims made by so many customers. This company has made a "lemon" and still making this product, this make of the dodge product should be removed from sales and all customers that bought this car should receive refunds. I also have encountered a horrifying experience at a local Dodge dealership. I had my car towed in on a flat bed, I spoke to a man over the phone to provide him with the sounds and what the car was doing. The car went in to be placed on the machine based on the part it needed (throttle body) was a dealer part. I received many phone calls giving me prices ranging from $600-$1500. When I was able to get to the dealership they had taken out all coil packs, serpentine belt, and much more. During the time speaking to one of the workers, he had grabbed my tensioner pulley and yanked on it to "show me it needed to be replaced". I had reported it to the 1 800 customer service line, and was informed "they will file a complaint with the dealership". I for one am done with Dodge products and dealing with all Dodge personnel. I will NEVER buy a Dodge product again. If you take anything away from this, never buy a Dodge Caliber and know the HR department really doesn't care about you as a customer. After all u have already gave them your money and continue to do so until you wise up and stopover buying Dodge products.

i have took this car to over four mechanics about the rattling noise that i hear whenever i'm on the gas and i was told that it was a tire rod wearing out. Then i was told thazt it was a problem with a motor mount and i had that repaired, but the ,noise was still there. Then i was told it was a tire and i had it replaced. Next i was told that i needed a major tune-up at 0nly 54000 miles because of the noise. I had a tune up done and one of my coils replaced which cost me 170.00 the motor mount cost me 200.00 dollars to repair.I was told that it was a transmiussion problem too. Now the last mechanic i went to, got up under the car with a stethescope and listen while i put my feet on the gas , and after 10 minutes he said it was my alternator going bad and he advise me to go and buy a rebuilt one from autozone auto part but i was wise and had it tested for free and i was told that it was still in good standing. so i went back to thast same mechanic and now he say's that it's a part on the alternator that turns. I was also told that my water pump is probly going out. What the hell it don't even have a fuse for the aircondition. This car really is a headache. I'm looking to buy a new car reallyt soon and it won't be a caliber.

They had replaced lower control arm and gave the vehicle back to me with this problem. I also had them check a noise I was hearing when the car was at low RPM. They stated at that time that it was from the Throttle blade when it opened and closed and was not an abnormal condition (not normal either DUH).
