CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

I swear to god, iv'e had it with this car, it's in the shop now about once a week for new problems. Now its latest problem, its mis-firing and KNOCKING when cold, and when its warm something is squeaking, don't know if the squeaking is related or not. Just took the car into the dealership on Tuesday for the knock (dealer couldn't duplicate problem) but said it might need the computer flashed, so 90 bucks did nothing, now I was starting the car after filling gas and I hear the signs of either something on the belt system failing or the engine giving me the middle finger. Why I ever bought this car from my mom, I may never know, but back to the dealership (or some shop tomorrow to get told that the Alternator or Water pump is going). I've spent almost 2 grand on this car in 6 months to keep it going, now i'm thinking when it dies it dies. Owned GM and Ford that lasted well into 200,000 miles with not this much maintenance needed to keep it going, heck my 99 Taurus only needed in the 2 years I owned it was a VSS sensor, but some lady had to hit it and kill it. I swear this is the LAST thing im going to fix on this Pile of S**t.

Update from Nov 1, 2013: Took it to another Dealership, told me that it was probably piston slap...They said it's pretty much a dodge Neon is disguise and all the problems with the neon were carried over to the early 07-09 Calibers, just driving it till it dies now...

2007 Caliber is the worst "New" car I've ever owned. It has a "cheap" feel to it. For the price, better off getting a Chevy or Import compact. I wouldn't ever recommend this car to a friend. Only to an enemy.
