CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

Check engine light is on and cannot be cleared, code is large gas vapor system leak. The fuel fill tube is rusted. In 45 years of driving I have never had this part rust. Stay away from these cars, most Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep have the same issues, but they pick and choose the ones they want to recognize and fix by which one is cheaper to fix and admit to.

The catalytic converter in the 2007 Dodge Caliber has apparently been a repetitive problem with no recall. Sometimes relating to just the oxygen sensor or the actual converter. Couldn't afford repairs immediately and then the alternator went! Got the alternator replaced with money saving to fix catalytic converter which now puts us in worse position to get converter actually fixed. Hoping to have the money before end of this month and keeping fingers crossed it doesn't stress the new alternator too much until we can correct it. As this appears to be such a long standing complaint on the make & model I don't understand why there never was a recall on it.

I have been going though this problem of the check engine light for three years and no one can tell me what is wrong with my car. I do not have the money to do exploratory work preformed on my car. Each time I am driving my car over one to two hours, the engine check light comes on and the car with not accelerate and shortly after the car will shut off. After 5 to 10 minutes I can drive again. The light goes off before I can have anyone check for a code, because the car will not move during the time the light is on. Everyone tells me the light must be on in order to tell me what is wrong with my car....upset / I do not want to buy another Dodge.

Engine light came on again after $1000 spent on cooling system repairs... Turned out it was now a blown head gasket.. Really??? Thanks for nothing Dodge. I got this estimated at nearly $2,000. No way. Traded this piece of crap car and never getting a Dodge again in my life!!! I will warn anyone I care about to stay away from Dodge!! Not only was the car crap, but the service equally matched the vehicle!! So glad to have a REAL car now.

I have had my car at the dealers for a week, first was told ground wires, then connectors at transmission, then they are still communication with engineers to find out the problem, since the check engine light is still on. I have called everyday since the car was taken in (mon/appt) they have not called me once??? What kind of a professional does that to a customer???? I'm getting very impatient, so I'm going to talk to the person in charge at this point. I'm very frustrated at this point, and feel I'm going to give them a piece of my mind!!! Anyone have any suggestions??? Thx, Lorraine Marez
