CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles. Read more »
The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.
Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.
We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.
This car is a piece of sh*t, had nothing but problems with it. I will never own another Dodge ever!!!! The damn thing needed control arms, ball joints, struts, and the keyless remote quit beeping along with my horn quit working. The key fob still works to unlock the doors but now my car won't start won't crank. All lights and radio, everything works, just won't start. Oh and had the radiator changed. Also and the electronic throttle body..I hate this car but I need it fixed asap. Only car I have, those dealership people really got me with this POS!!!
Drove vehicle to friends house for the day, got in vehicle to go home and remote key would not work and car would not start. After playing with the remote and ignition key, the vehicle started. Had my mechanic look at vehicle. He did not find a draw on the battery. Told me it is possibly the wireless control module going bad. He showed me a relay in the fuse box to pull out and put back in when this happens. If it continues to happen, the module will need replaced
After spending almost $6,000 to fix various tie rod, bushings, tires (worn from broken tie rods), and other suspension/body issues, the car decided not to start 2 weeks ago. The battery was working fine--the lights worked--but the car would not turn over. A replaced throttle cable and box, fixed wiring, and trip to a Dodge dealership to reset the computer later (costing us $1,200, not adding in the tow to get it there), the car worked for another week.
Today, after dropping my daughter off at work, the car decided to not start again. Same problem. Now I get to tell a very tired, frustrated hubby, who has been working tons of overtime to try to pay for all of these repairs, that the car needs to be towed and fixed again. VERY ANGRY.
