CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

I drove my car 6 city blocks to pick my kids up from school. I noticed an awful smell and eventually smoke. My car was parked and turned OFF at the time. I hurried home and waited for my husband and neighbor to take apart the door to get the fire to stop. (over one hour later!) The wiring and controls were completely melted. My car STUNK, I'm an asthmatic and needed 5 days of treatment for smoke inhalation. I still can't drive my car and Ewald Dodge in Milwaukee told me that they wouldn't do anything for me because my car is more than 3 years old, "and not their problem". I just want to know why the fuse NEVER blew!?! I had to take m car in for the 5-year inspection and they wouldn't even LOOK at the door/wiring unless I paid them to inspect it. Anyone interested in a Dodge Caliber....BEWARE!! I've had nothing but problems with mine. Read my other posts...TWO sets of control arms, tie rods, cv boots...on and on...
