CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.
The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.
Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.
We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

I purchased the 2007 dodge caliber in May of 2008. I did notice the steering wheel does stick sometimes when you turn the wheel, annoying but not my major complaint on this car. In June of 2010 the ac went out and took the alternator out also. I took the car to my mechanic. We shared custody of the car for the next few months. He put NINE different ac compressors in. After the first one I only had the car a few hours before the clutch on the ac compressor blew out. The story was the same until the 9th one. Total cost for repairs $500 for alternator and $1200 for ac. It worked fine until June of 2012. I was out of town when it went out again taking out the alternator. I just had the alternator replaced this time. I was too irritated to spend the money to fix the ac again. So I only drive it when the weather is cool. If I could get rid of this car I would.
