Avenger SXT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,769 miles

Since my wife got her 2013 Dodge Avenger SXT 2.4L it has had a hesitation/jerk anytime there is a load on the engine. The car now has around 11,000 miles on it and it has gotten much worse. It has now started to accelerate on its own. It is a real pain to back into places since it keeps accelerating.

I took it to the dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong with it. The gas mileage is terrible on it I cannot get over 25 mpg on the highway. It misses so bad that it feels like the engine is going to stall out sometimes. With my wife being pregnant and seeing that another person wrecked because of it, I am taking it back to the dealership and not picking it up until it is fixed or I get a new car.

Avenger SXT 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,400 miles

Car feels as though it is shivering, not a shake as you would feel if tires were unbalanced but a shiver within the engine as you would feel if you had issues with the motor mounts or something. I was told they could not feel this and they could not recreate the issues therefore they could do nothing about it. It is felt at all different speeds. Tires have been rotated at 4900 miles and was told the best 2 (yeah 4900 miles and there is already obvious wear) were put on the front and alignment done. Issue still occurs. Its not in the balance of alignment!!!!

Update from Jul 11, 2013: Car was checked by dealer two times. Second time an update was found for Shift quality improvements. Dealer stated to Chrysler that all issues are believed to be Owner unfamiliarity with vehicle.

Update from Jul 19, 2013: First dealer was unable to DUPLICATE they did an update it did not fix my problem. Took my car to another dealer within 2 weeks, they did another update at around 5900 miles. When I took my car for a ride it was really obvious at approx. 25 mph. although I was feeling it at every shift change. No codes would come up but the second dealer was able to duplicate this and did a recording which they sent to Chrysler. Chrysler has told them that it is a bad Valve body in the transmission. Under 6000 miles and already transmission problems.

Update from Jul 31, 2013: Valve body was replaced on 7/30/2013 with a remanufactured valve body. This has not corrected the problem, while driving home at low speeds below 40mph. I was still feeling the hard shift to the point where there was a noise such as a clanking when car was shifting several times as well as a shimmy feeling. From 40mph and up at this point the car seemed OKAY. Miles at this time 6800.
