My husband and I both have an Avenger. His is a 2013, mine a 2012. We have had to put electrical tape on our inside door handled to prevent nasty cuts from the peeling of the fake metal handles. Its particularly bad on the back side of the passenger front door handle. So it's not noticeable until your hand is already in the action of opening the door (and getting cut). The drivers side seems to be peeling more from the top, making it more obvious, which signals more caution before getting injured, but that doesn't make this peeling less hazardous.
