Had my Throttle Body replaced on my 2010 Dodge Avenger July 7th, 2014. On August 20th, my son pulled away from a stop sign and when he went to give it gas, the throttle stuck open on him and he could not steer it, or stop it because it was going so fast. Fortunately he only hit a pole and no other vehicles or people were hurt. I want this mentioned because I have seen some people having the trouble of it acting like it was hesitating, etc. DO NOT DRIVE your car like this. It is extremely dangerous.
Once my car was taken to the body shop, one of the workers there started it two different times the next day and the throttle is sticking wide open when you give it a little bit of gas. We are very fortunate that I was not driving it to work the next day on a 4 lane highway that has a speed limit of 60 MPH. I would have been hurt badly or killed and very possible someone else would have been hurt or killed. I also keep thinking I took a trip the week after this was replaced to the Smokey Mountains. We are very fortunate that this did not stick on us in the mountains.
To be honest at this point - I never want to drive the car again, even it it is fixed. It did this with a BRAND NEW THROTTLE BODY on it. Who is to say the next one and the next one won't do the same thing. There is between $4,000.00 and $5,000.00 worth of damage to the front and side of my car not to mention the pole that was damaged. This price does not include getting the throttle problem fixed, which I have no intention of paying for. As I said this is a very dangerous situation and I do not recommend any one to continue driving their vehicle with this acting up. There needs to be a recall on this car.
