This issue has happened four times over the past 18 months. The fix is relatively easy. Order a new part and install it. Symptoms are a very loud CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK that emanates from below the dash on the passenger side (where the blower motor is situated).
When the issue first starts, it clicks for a while and then goes away when turning the outside air to OFF. After a few days, the issue starts happening regardless if you are turning the inside air on or off.
WARNING: If outside air is left to OFF during the winter months, the inside of the windows begin to fog so much the vehicle is unsafe to operate.
I view the replacement of the air recirc door motor as a bandaid, at best - not a solution. The real question is, WHAT is causing the air recirc door motor to continue to fail...and WHY????? This is obviously a recurring problem affecting many year models. My car is a 2010, I've seen this problem reported up through at least 2012.
