I had the airbags deploy while driving down the highway. I hit absolutely nothing. The warning light had come on the night before on my way home from working 2nd shift. It was a Saturday, so of course no shops open then or on Sunday. Checked out my owner's manual to see if it was OK to continue to drive the car and it mentioned nothing about the possibility of the airbags deploying on their own. It did mention they may NOT work in the event of a crash. So I figured I was safe until that Monday morning when I could talk to the dealership. Not so much. I was not injured and fortunately did not hit anyone else either. ( I believe very much in guardian angels.) I am falling between the cracks now though. My insurance may not cover it since I didn't collide with anything and the dealership doesn't know the policy either since I was over 36,000 miles.
Any other Dodge Avenger owners, please pay attention to your airbag light, if it's on get it to a dealership immediately!!!! The life you save will be your own plus someone else's....do NOT let your small children ride up front either. Not SAFE!!!!!
